Aquatic ecotoxicology
Dr. Bouldin's research involves aquatic toxicology and the use of laboratory test organisms to predict instream effects of agricultural runoff to downstream ecosystems. My research also includes the mitigation of agricultural runoff within receiving structures, specifically vegetated ditches and constructed wetlands. The role of aquatic vegetation in the remediation process, more specifically, phytoremediation of agricultural chemicals utilizing indigenous aquatic vegetation from agricultural ditches and wetlands. Recent research has also included assessing the impact of nonpoint source runoff as part of a watershed assessment utilizing in-situ Asian clams, Corbicula fluminea and the development of a farm-scale environmental risk assessment. Ongoing research includes investigating the environmental fate and effects of nanoparticles to Ceriodaphnia dubia and Raphidocelis subcapitata. |
