Mammalian & Avian Ecology

My research focuses on the ecology of mammals and birds.  I have employed experimental and comparative methods, because these techniques lend themselves well to theoretical ecology and also to the development of applied research and conservation. Thus, I investigate many facets of population and behavioral ecology.  My research has involved large scale field projects that allow me to examine the role of juvenile recruitment as it influences population dynamics and relates to the evolution of life histories.

Ongoing projects:

       ·        Plumage and Egg Color

o       Eastern Bluebirds

o       American Kestrels

·        Ecology and Conservation of Ozark Pocket Gopher

·        Ecology of Conservation of Rare and Endangered Bats

·        Ecology of Prescribed Burns in the Ouachita Mountains

·        Behavioral and Population Ecology of Southern Flying Squirrels
