MINOR IN INTERNATIONAL STUDIES

The International Studies Minor requires 18 credit hours of course work:

A language component of two courses (total of 6 credits) from the list of approved options in Spanish, French, or German.  Credit through study abroad or independent study may supplement these options; for information, contact the International Studies Advisor in the Dept. of Languages.

An interdisciplinary component of four courses (total of 12 credits) from various disciplines such as English, History, Political Science, Geography, Sociology, Philosophy, Radio/TV, Art, and International Business.

Why Earn an International Studies Minor?

An International Studies Minor shows prospective employers and graduate school admission officers that you have an interest and knowledge of international affairs. It proves that you can work in an interdisciplinary environment and are able to “put the pieces together” in our global society. It also shows that you have some skill in a second language, which is always a plus.

You may be closer to completing your International Studies Minor requirements then you think as some of the courses you have already taken or requirements in your major may well count toward your International Studies Minor! For further information, please contact the Department of Languages at (870) 972-3887 or visit us at ASU’s Jonesboro campus in 220 Wilson Hall.
