Dr. Johnson received his
Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Michigan and
specializes in nineteenth-century French literature with side interests
in cinema and the Quebec novel. He has published articles on Zola,
Balzac, Musset, Mérimée, Villiers de l'Isle-Adam, and various other
writers.
He has presented more than three dozen
papers, including at international conferences in Paris, Stockholm, and
elsewhere in Europe.
Dr. Johnson
has a passion for
classical music, particularly the work of the Finnish composer
Sibelius.
