Ruth Owens is the Director of Foreign Language
Education. Her responsibilities include
teaching Spanish and foreign language teaching methods, as well as
supervising student teachers of foreign languages. For several
years, she has led summer study-abroad programs to Costa Rica. She earned an
Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction in 1997 and an M.A. in Foreign Languages
in 1993, both from West Virginia University. After earning a B.A. in Modern
Foreign Languages from Longwood College (VA) in 1984, she taught high school
Spanish in central Virginia for six years. She and her husband James
enjoy playing tennis and spending time at home with their pets Misty and
Raven.
