Sam Hiser :
President 2006/7 |
|
It is
with great pleasure that I address everyone for the
first time as President of Sigma Theta Tau, Eta Theta
Chapter. As your president, I hope to provide you with
the leadership YOU expect, to the best of my knowledge.
To accomplish this I feel that personal contact is of
the utmost importance and would like to take this time
to get some general housekeeping out to you. The
easiest and probably most constructive way to reach me
is likely by email; I will therefore provide a link to
my email here
hisers3208@sbcglobal.net.
Should I fail to contact you as quickly as you desire,
my telephone number is 870-934-8193, I will return all
messages as quickly as possible.
As
your president, I possess a distinct vision and would
like to share that with all of you. I have a vision of
our chapter serving our community with membership
extending beyond a student base. When becoming a member
of Sigma Theta Tau, you are becoming an affiliate of an
elite population of nurses who are a member of the only
national nurses honor society, nowhere is it mentioned
that only students and instructors can
participate. If becoming a member alone is good, then
being an active member is GRAND! Therefore, I challenge
everyone to advance their membership status beyond the
Arkansas State Campus and serve our community of
Northeast Arkansas.
The
mission of Sigma Theta Tau International is simple, “to
support the learning, knowledge and professional
development of nurses committed to making a difference
in health worldwide.” As your president, I issue a
challenge to all members to serve to this mission by
starting within our community and commit to providing
dedicated service to our region. Whether this is by
improving health through education, assisting nursing
students clinically, participating with research
opportunities, or promoting health to the public, we
each possess unique resources that can help the global
mission be attained.
Finally, I would like to leave you with some closing
thoughts. I would like to meet each member of the Eta
Theta Chapter individually; therefore if you see me on
the street, stop me & introduce yourself, I would be
happy to shake your hand as a fellow scholar. Second, I
would like to encourage each and every member to
participate in events, including meetings, after all, if
your voice is not heard, that is a decision. Third, I
would like to thank you for electing me to serve as
president of this society of honors; I hope I can make
you all proud.
Sam Hiser
